If you love German Shepherds and truly value the inherent characteristics of the breed, then breeding is a big responsibility. Here at Grünberg Shepherds, we take that responsibility seriously.

Breeding starts with the careful selection of bloodlines and choosing prospective parents from those bloodlines. A good adult dog has its basis in genetics, because, after all, “you can't make a rose from a skunk cabbage.”

Our gene pool is drawn from DDR Lines and old time High Lines. We will also use dogs and pedigrees that we have researched. Our goal is to breed functional dogs with strong, balanced character and superior nerve strength, which is precisely why we can guarantee the temperament on all our dogs!

All breeding stock are fed according to The National Diet by famed animal nutritionist Wendy Volhard. Grünberg puppies are weaned on fresh goat's milk and then lovingly graduated to organic meats, fruits, and vegetables. This is Vermont, after all!

Our puppies are raised in a wholesome family setting amongst children. The fresh Vermont air and clean environment add to our puppies' health. Limited litters ensure that each pup receives personal attention and proper care.

You'll find descriptions of our 2008 litters here.
